What is  wbengine.exe

The wbengine.exe process is also known as the Block Level Backup Engine Service and is created by the Microsoft Corporation. The Block Level Backup Engine Service enables the user for a Complete PC backup at the hard drive’s block level compared to file by file. This typically means that the user will create an image of the drive. This program is a part of the Windows service, specifically the Microsoft Vista’s drive backup capability. This service is also known as the Disk Imaging Service and is used whenever the user operates the Vista Backup and Restore Center when performing a Complete PC Backup of the user’s personal computer. This service will then back up the user’s computer as a disk image which can be used later to be able to restore his or her entire Vista PC with the incorporation of Windows Recovery Environment. Whenever a user backs up his or her respective computer system using the Block Level Backup Engine Service, the service performs actual backups by reading the user’s hard disk’s information block by block rather than folder by folder or file by file.
