It terminates the processes running in the currently used file, or it forces the stopping so the user may be able to safely delete, move, or rename the file. The Unlocker is a graphical user interface (GUI) application with command-line through an administrative console. The Unlocker can unload an application extension, terminate a process, as well as force processes to stop using a particular file (the point of the unlocking feature in the software itself). Unlocker uses OpenCandy in advertising other software during the install process. The OpenCandy is reported as being considered to be an adware. A portable variant of OpenCandy program is available. There are also several analogue types of the product. The main changes in the Unlocker since its first version are the bug fixes. The installer has a few enhanced features as well as its GUI.
