The syntplpr.exe process is the executable file for the Synaptics touchpad drivers, the application for the widely-used pointing devices on laptops and other portable computers that mostly use the touchpad for system navigation instead of using a mouse. Synaptics drivers provide support for the software device. The TouchPad Driver Helper of the Synaptics Pointing device provides Windows-based navigation to laptop touchpads which includes sensibility adjustment, button order, tapping speed, virtual scrollbar setup, among others. The device driver is programmed to meet the specified requirements of the device manufacturer. Synaptics is the original manufacturer of equipments that create a number of touch-pads used in laptops, mp3 players, touch-screens, cellular phones, and others. Synaptics Incorporated launched the TouchPad in 1995 and became a leading name in the notebook technology marketplace. Synaptics continues to innovate new interface solutions for the expanding market of devices, notebook PCs and PC peripherals, mobile phones, digital music players, remote controls, and GPS devices.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. syntplpr.exe. is used by TouchPad Driver, If you shut down syntplpr.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop syntplpr.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is TouchPad Driver, from your system.
