The executable file symnrt.exe is more popularly known by the name Symantec Removal Utility, a part of the program Norton Removal Tool, which is created and digitally signed (VeriSign Time Stamping Services Signer - G2) by Symantec Corporation. This application is a removal utility tool that automatically removes and deletes certain applications of Norton security and antivirus programs. The use of this program makes removing applications easier. Not all Norton products are subject to be removed by this program, only the following applications: Norton AntiVirus (2004, 2005, 2006), Norton AntiVirus Professional 2004, Norton AntiVirus 3, 5 and 10 User Pack (2004, 2005, 2006), Norton GoBack (3.1, 3.5, 3.6, 4.0, 4.1), Norton SystemWorks 2004 Professional Edition, Norton SystemWorks 2005 and 2006 Premier, Norton SystemWorks (2004, 2005, 2006), Norton SystemWorks 2006 Basic Edition, Norton Password Manager 2004, Norton Internet Security (2004, 2005, 2006),Norton Internet Security 5 and 10 User Pack (2004, 2005, 2006), Norton Internet Security 2005 AntiSpyware Edition 8.2, Norton Personal Firewall (2004, 2005, 2006), Norton AntiSpam (2004, 2005), Norton Ghost 2003 (9.0, 10.0).

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. symnrt.exe. is used by Symantec Removal Utility, If you shut down symnrt.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop symnrt.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Symantec Removal Utility, from your system.
