The file smsc.exe is the process known to Run regular applications as Windows services that belong to software AppToService by Basta Computing. It is a Windows Unicode console application that lets users run regular applications and servers as Windows services. This enables users to enjoy the benefits from a Windows that include the ability to run an application under a specified user account, the ability to run an application even when no user is logged on the computer, and the ability to allow an application to survive logoff/ logon sequences. This tool is useful for applications that need to run continuously, like a mail server, a security tool, or a database. This console application is easy to use, with many available options for greater user control. It works with virtually any application, is easy to use, and provides the user with a comprehensive help guide.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. smsc.exe. is used by AppToService, If you shut down smsc.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop smsc.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is AppToService, from your system.
