The siremfil.sys process is a component system file integrated along with the program files, system drivers and modular DLL resources that are used and referenced by the SATALink External Device Filter module, which is a program implemented into the firmware and driver software components of certain Silicon Image chipsets that are integrated into some computer motherboards. The siremfil.sys process is bundled with the installer distribution packages of these Silicon Image firmware and driver software resources, which also means the siremfil.sys file is installed in the system alongside the SATALink External Device Filter module and the other firmware and driver software resources of the supported Silicon Image chipset device. The siremfil.sys file is specifically deployed as the main component of the SATALink External Device Filter module, which means certain Silicon Image firmware and driver software components reference the source code stored in the siremfil.sys process whenever the SATALink External Device Filter module needs to be loaded unto the system.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. siremfil.sys. is used by Silicon Image SATALink External Device Filter Module, If you shut down siremfil.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop siremfil.sys, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Silicon Image SATALink External Device Filter Module, from your system.
