It is developed to read different card reading devices made by the same company as well as together units that are compatible. In fact, it is a component of several applications which include IOI Multimedia Card Reader, eMachines Bay Reader V and ASUS Multimedia Card Reader. It accepts various memory cards from common devices such as digital cameras and camcorders. Once the operating system of Microsoft Windows starts, this program also automatically launches itself. While it loads during a startup, this program does not have a visible user interface. It is not also a core file of the Windows operating system. However, it can be removed and deleted through the Control Panel. For the functions, it allows a user to import files like digital photos and videos, edit, delete, print or simply view on the computer screen.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. shwicon2k.exe. is used by Multimedia Card Reader, If you shut down shwicon2k.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
