Developed and owned by Chicony Electronics, showwnd.exe is a drive file that is programmed to prevent the desktop Taskbar panel from constantly popping up and re-emerging on the monitor screen. Showwnd.exe is an essential application exclusively designed for the Chicony gaming and multimedia keyboards of Gateway computers. Chicony is a manufacturer of high-end digital imaging software products and special function keyboards. The Chicony multimedia keyboard has keys to access the Internet, download audio files and popular programs. It also has a Mute button, volume control, and standby button. The showwnd.exe application can also translate certain keystrokes in the Chicony keyboard that can perform a set of actions for the gaming (for example, the Ctrl+Shift+y keystroke, a frequently used key combination in specific games). Function key combinations are especially programmed by Chicony for game enthusiasts who may happen to have clumsy keystroke mannerisms, so that they would be able to focus on running the course of the gaming and enjoy the experience.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. showwnd.exe. is used by Multimedia Keyboard Driver, If you shut down showwnd.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop showwnd.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Multimedia Keyboard Driver, from your system.
