The sgectl.exe process is an executable component file packaged with the other modular DLLs, program files and system drivers that are used by the SafeGuard Easy software, which is a program classified as a data encryption application designed by Utimaco Safeware AG for data storage disks and partitions of Windows-based systems. The sgectl.exe process is built into the installer distribution packages of the SafeGuard Easy software, which means the sgectl.exe process is installed in the system upon the installation of the SafeGuard Easy application. The sgectl.exe process is specifically deployed as the SafeGuard Easy SGECTL module, which is an applet integrated into the SafeGuard Easy software for handling some of its data encryption functionalities. This means the sgectl.exe process may be activated by the system or the SafeGuard Easy software, upon user request, whenever the functions of the SafeGuard Easy SGECTL module need to be loaded and implemented into the system.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. sgectl.exe. is used by SafeGuard Easy and SafeGuard Easy SGECTL Module, If you shut down sgectl.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop sgectl.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is SafeGuard Easy and SafeGuard Easy SGECTL Module, from your system.

Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
