What is  sc_acrobat.exe

The process sc_acrobat.exe is a QuickStart utility installed as part of Adobe Reader/ Acrobat 7.0. QuickStart is a loading method used by software applications to speed-up loading time of their software. It has an icon in the system tray, and it loads base components of the application like core files in the RAM during computer startup, so that the application will start up quickly when the user accesses it. QuickStart utilities use up RAM even when the application is not open and it can actually decrease the performance of the system. It delays the system startup, since the computer uses up time to read the QuickStart application from the hard drive and additional CPU processing and sub-system usage as the application is loaded into the memory. Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader (version 7.0) use the QuickStart utility, but does not load the program into the memory. QuickStart utilities are a workaround for the poor performance of hard disk drives that are the traditional standards in desktop computers.
