The sbkupnt.sys file is a component system process included with the other DLL modules, program files and system drivers that are required by the SwissKnife software, which is an application classified as a data security and management program for Windows-based systems that is designed by CompuApps, Inc. with a set of features for formatting, creating and managing disk partitions in external hard drives and other portable data storage devices. The sbkupnt.sys file is included in the installer distribution packages of the SwissKnife software, which also means the sbkupnt.sys process is installed in the system upon the installation of the SwissKnife application. The sbkupnt.sys file is particularly deployed as one of the system driver resources used by the SwissKnife software to perform its intended operations upon system or user request.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. sbkupnt.sys. is used by CompuApps SwissKnife, If you shut down sbkupnt.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop sbkupnt.sys, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is CompuApps SwissKnife, from your system.
