The SharePoint Timer Service which has an internal name that is called owstimer.exe. The file is from the software which is called Windows Sharepoint Services. The software was owned and was developed by the Microsoft Corporation. The file deals about the email notification timer. The file can be usually located in the C: directory and under the program files folder. The size of the file is 26,312 bytes in the Hard Disk Drive (HDD). But the size of the file may vary when installed in different versions of Operating System such as the Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. the file is from a trusted Company. The file does not belong to the Windows core file. If there are problems with the file, the user may remove the file by removing the entire program in which the file is associated with. The removal can be done by using the Add/Remove Program utility located in the Control Panel of Microsoft Windows Operating System.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. owstimer.exe. is used by Microsoft Office , If you shut down owstimer.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop owstimer.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Microsoft Office , from your system.
