The file known as OCR Aware is part of the OmniPage software, which is licensed under ScanSoft, Inc., and it is installed through opwarese4.exe. The file allows users to have a document scanned straight from the computer, by accessing OmniPage directly from MS Word. Basically, the file provides support for OmniPage’s Optical Character Recognition. Users found the file essential for maximizing scanner functions, but it is not a necessary background process. The file is kept disabled until the need for it comes up. No known virus, malware or spyware files were associated with the process. It is not an integral part of the system, which means it doess not affect your Windows OS. The file is saved in the following directory: C:\Program Files\ScanSoft\OmniPageSE4.0\ opwarese4.exe. While some users choose to disable it, others recommend double-checking first if no other modules need the file to ensure that nothing will go amiss with your system once the file has been disabled.
