What is  nvsvc.exe

The nvsvc.exe process is the executable file for NVidia Driver Helper Service, a program that ensures proper functionality of the NVidia graphics card driver. The NVidia Driver Helper Service works well with Windows NT version 4, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows 2003 and on any NVidia-based graphics card. There are a number of NVidia models that can be run on non-Windows computers. Nvsvc.exe resolves various glitches, such as significant shutdown delays in instances of excessive memory usage which, in disabling it does not result to any ill-effects to the NVidia operations. NVIDIA Driver Helper Service is installed as a service in Windows NT version 4, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows 2003, and installed as startup under Windows 98 and Windows Millennium. These tasks are used only when the user uses specific NVidia Advanced features of the graphics card, particularly when over-clocking and overriding the refresh rates for OpenGL games or dual monitor display. The task is also needed when the user has configured the computer or laptop to Hibernation or Sleep Mode.
