AV Engine is the service name of the file process termed as naveng.sys, which is a type of driver file, and a component of the program Symantec Antivirus Engine, also referred to by the name NAVENG, which his created by Symantec Corporation. This driver is a part of Symantec Antivirus software, and is digitally signed by the same manufacturing company, Symantec Corporation, Symantec Time Stamping Services Signer - G3, which indicate that it must not be terminated or stopped, even though it is not an essential core component, but unless it causes problems or errors that affect the performance of the system, this must remain active on the computer. Other than that, naveng.sys may be able to execute other process bundled within the software, so they also can provide their own tasks, that apparently complete the overall functionality of Symantec Antivirus Engine. Also, naveng.sys is compatible with Microsoft Windows Operating Systems.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. naveng.sys. is used by Symantec Antivirus Engine, If you shut down naveng.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
