The msrun32.exe file is a start-up program that is associated with MSN or Windows Messenger. MSN Messenger or Windows Messenger is an application that requires an Internet connection for the chat and messenger functions of this program to be successfully implemented into the system and accessed by the user. This application allows a user to select an option to run at the same time Windows operating system starts, and with the background process msrun32.exe, this application is able to run automatically upon initialization of the Windows system, prompting the user to sign-in and connect to the internet. Although a part of the said application, the msrun32.exe file is not a core component of the system, and the application may run smoothly with this program disabled. It also does not pull up a window of its own, and aside from starting the application, has no other known function. Storage size of this file is approximately 2KB and can be seen inside Windows folder of the program files directory.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. msrun32.exe. is used by MSN Messenger/ Windows Messenger, If you shut down msrun32.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop msrun32.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is MSN Messenger/ Windows Messenger, from your system.
