The msbntray.exe file is an EXE component process of the Microsoft Broadband Networking software, which is a networking tool for widely used versions of Windows that was developed by Microsoft with a set of features for customizing and configuring the network settings of a Windows-based system through a simple to operate UI (User Interface). The msbntray.exe process is specifically deployed as the executable dispatcher file of the Microsoft Broadband Networking Tray application, which is a small program built into the Microsoft Networking Broadband software, and the Microsoft Networking Broadband Tray application assists this networking tool in the integration of menu items and icons as well as event alert systems and status notifications into the Windows System Tray. This means the msbntray.exe process is activated by the Microsoft Networking Broadband software and the Windows system itself whenever the user loads the Microsoft Networking Broadband software unto the system, in order to implement the Windows System Tray functionalities of the Microsoft Networking Broadband program that can be accessed by the user through its icons and menu items.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. msbntray.exe. is used by Microsoft Networking Broadband and Microsoft Networking Broadband Tray Application, If you shut down msbntray.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop msbntray.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Microsoft Networking Broadband and Microsoft Networking Broadband Tray Application, from your system.
