Microsoft Windows Operating System claims medctrro.exe file as part of its program. It is considered as Windows NT. Windows NT is a group of operating systems which has been developed by Microsoft Corporation. It is an operating system which is strong high level language based, processor independent, multiprocessing and multiuser, just like the features of Unix. Windows NT has been developed to complement the consumer versions of Microsoft Windows which uses MS-DOS as the operating system. NT was the first 32-bit version which has been fully created for Windows. Windows 3.1x and Windows 9x are its consumer oriented counterparts which are only 16-bit and 32-bit hybrids. Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Home Server, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Phone 8 and Windows Server 2012 are all part of Windows NT. Thus all of these systems use medctrro.exe to execute the program installed in the computer. They do not use the name Windows NT, however, Microsoft describes them as products built on NT Technology.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. medctrro.exe. is used by Microsoft Windows NT, If you shut down medctrro.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop medctrro.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Microsoft Windows NT, from your system.
