The process mcmscsvc.exe, also called MISP (McAfee Integrated Security Program) User Manager is a running process from the McAfee Security Center. It is a Verisign signed file and is a hidden program in the Windows registry. It automatically executes with the operating system since the program is required to run at start-up in order to benefit from its functionality. Though it is not a Windows core file, it is installed as a Windows service that monitors applications while remaining hidden. The MISP Manager ensures that the antivirus protection is properly enforced when a user logs off from the PC and logs back in without rebooting the system. Because the process affects CPU utilization and sometimes slows down the performance of the computer, the user has the option to shut it down although it is not recommended since security could be compromised.
