The mcmnhdlr.exe process is an executable program file that is deployed into the McAfee VirusScan application and the McAfee Security Center software as one of the components of the McAfee VirusScan Command Handler module, which is an applet built into these McAfee programs. The mcmnhdlr.exe process along with the resource files and libraries of this module are responsible for implementing online and offline scanning and monitoring functionalities into the Windows-based system. The McAfee VirusScan program and the McAfee Security Center module are integrated into the McAfee Internet Security Suite software as Windows programs classified as system security tools that were developed with a set of features for scanning, detecting, monitoring and protecting Windows-based computers against user privacy risks, hacker attacks, data security threats, system stability issues, data loss and corruption caused by viruses, worms, Trojans, backdoor rootkits, spyware applications and other malware items. This means the mcmnhdlr.exe process is bundled into the installer distribution packages of these McAfee system security tools and is placed in the system upon the installation of the McAfee VirusScan software and the McAfee Security Center program.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. mcmnhdlr.exe. is used by McAfee VirusScan and McAfee Security Center and McAfee Internet Security Suite and McAfee VirusScan Command Handler Module, If you shut down mcmnhdlr.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop mcmnhdlr.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is McAfee VirusScan and McAfee Security Center and McAfee Internet Security Suite and McAfee VirusScan Command Handler Module, from your system.
