Many user reports claim that the mailserver.exe file is an EXE program variant associated with the TROJ_PROXY.WHB application, which is a family of Trojans and viruses, while a few users state that the mailserver.exe process is a component of a malicious application belonging to the family of spyware applications known as Spyware.Ardakey. As an alleged Trojan, some users reported that the mailserver.exe process is capable of exploiting vulnerable or unprotected TCP/IP network ports, in order to initiate contact with remote servers that are managed and operated by the authors of this malicious program, and upon connecting with these Web servers, the mailserver.exe process is said to download more malware items unto the infected Windows-based system. As a spyware component, the mailserver.exe process is said to be capable of secretly recording keyboard and mouse click inputs in the compromised Windows-based computer, and these pieces of data are said to be logged by the mailserver.exe process, for transmission to the Web servers of its authors, and a few users claim that the mailserver.exe process can also covertly gather private user details and Internet surfing information from the infected system and its default Web browser, in order to be included in the pieces of data that are then transmitted to the remote servers of its authors.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. mailserver.exe. is used by TROJ_PROXY.WHB Trojan and Spyware.Ardakey Spyware, If you shut down mailserver.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop mailserver.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is TROJ_PROXY.WHB Trojan and Spyware.Ardakey Spyware, from your system.
