What is  magent.exe

The magent.exe process is an executable component file of the Trojan.Generic program, as claimed by some user reports, and the magent.exe file has also been reported as an email worm application. A few users claimed that the magent.exe file is also a component of other Trojan variants, and many system security specialists advise the instantaneous deactivation and deletion or removal of the magent.exe process from the system. Some user reports stated that the magent.exe process can search for backdoor system vulnerabilities and implement its downloading process features in order to install other malicious applications that can collect Personally Identifiable Information (PII) among other pieces of data from the infected computer. The magent.exe process has also been reported to be implemented with data transmission features that can allow the magent.exe process to initiate data transmissions through the Internet connection ports of the compromised system, in order to transmit the gathered data to predesignated Web servers.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. magent.exe. is used by Trojan.Generic, If you shut down magent.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop magent.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Trojan.Generic, from your system.
