The hwsetup.exe executable file provides users with a process known also known as HWSetup. This is part of the software that installs a computer program called Toshiba Hardware Setup. This software is usually already included in Toshiba computers. The file executes a process that will allow the user to manipulate the configurations of their hardware devices installed on the PC. The default installation destination of the file is C:\Program Files\Toshiba\Utilities\hwsetup.exe. Startup command is “C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\Utilities\HWSetup.exe hwSetUp.” Although the file is pre-configured to start when the system boots, it is not a necessary startup task. You may disable it from the startup list if you do not wish for it to run every time you boot your system. Since the file is only a configuration utility for your computer hardware, disabling it from startup will not affect the way your computer hardware functions. File version 2, 0, 50, 4 is compatible with Windows 7 Home Premium as well as Windows 8 Pro. It has a size of about 414 KB.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. hwsetup.exe. is used by HWSetup, If you shut down hwsetup.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop hwsetup.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is HWSetup, from your system.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as HWSetup, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
