Hewlett Packard Software Update Scheduler is a program that basically provides updates, advice and support for products by Hewlett Packard (HP). It includes the file hpwuschd.exe, a background process, which checks the Internet for any updates related to hardware drivers for HP products, such as printers, scanners and cameras. Once this update scheduler is installed, the file hpwuschd.exe, along with the other associated files and registry entries, have their own spot in the computer system. Even though the file program does not have any visible window, the hpwuschd.exe process operates to check and provide a user any updates for HP’s hardware device drivers. This also means that the file program starts to work once the computer is turned on, but only, and most importantly, when the Internet is connected. The file program certainly depends on the Internet in gathering updates and relaying the information to users. It is the user’s preference and discretion to download any new updates.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. hpwuschd.exe. is used by Hewlett-Packard (HP) Software Update Scheduler, If you shut down hpwuschd.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop hpwuschd.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Hewlett-Packard (HP) Software Update Scheduler, from your system.
