What is hpmon.exe
The file hpmon.exe is the executable process of the HP Monitor Service application. The process hpmon.exe calls on the dll file hpmon.dll, which supports the Hewlett-Packard Network Port Monitor in Microsoft Windows operating system. The port monitor is responsible for the communication between the printer and the spooler. The print spooler is a windows process that feeds the print job from the printer queue to the printer. The spooler manages the printing queue instead of the application from where the print command was initiated. The print monitor controls the input/output (I/O) port to which the physical printer is connected. it delivers the print job to the printer, and communicates the status of the print job and the device. The user selects the port monitor when adding a printer or using HP software. Port monitors include the HP Standard TCP/IP Port, HP Standard SPX/IPX Port, Microsoft Standard TCP/IP Port, Microsoft LPR Port, and the Hewlett-Packard Network Port.
