The hottray.exe file is the process called eFax Messenger Plus- Tray that is part of the application eFax Messenger Plus created by j2 Global Communications. This program places an icon on your taskbar. It uses a visible window. It can alter or control other programs. It is not a core file for Windows. The hottray.exe file has no digital signature. eFax Messenger Plus is a software that lets you send faxes. You do not have to manually fax a document or print it. You also do not need to be at the location of a fax machine. It helps save money and time. It lets you fax documents directly from your computer. It is a fax solution for receiving voice mail and faxes while on the go. You can also receive your messages through E-mail so you do not have to stand by the fax machine while waiting for the fax to arrive. It also keeps your documents private. It lets you receive voice mail and faxes as attachments to your E-mail.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. hottray.exe. is used by eFax Messenger Plus, If you shut down hottray.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop hottray.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is eFax Messenger Plus, from your system.
