The hotkeyb.exe file is the process called Hot Keyboad application that is used by the application Hot Keyboard Pro created by Imposant. This process can record keyboard inputs. It is not a system process. This process file has a digital signature. It is not a visible program. It runs whne you load Windows. It uses the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. It can monitor programs and record inputs. The Hot Keyboard Pro lets you automate tasks using macros. It allows you to create a macro to launch repetitive actions using a single keystroke. You can use macros to past phone numbers, signatures and frequently used text, launch favorite programs, play back and record mouse actions and keystrokes, get to folders such as Control Panel, My Documents and Network Places, disable or enable network connections, open documents you work with, arrange windows on desktop and move between displays, control sound volumes and media player for every sound device. You can assign macros to hotkeys, window popup, text shortcut, scheduler or system startup. You can encrypt macros to protect sensitive data like private Web links and passwords.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. hotkeyb.exe. is used by Hot Keyboard Pro, If you shut down hotkeyb.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop hotkeyb.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Hot Keyboard Pro, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as Hot Keyboard Pro, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
