The hkexte.exe file is a non-system process. It is not a core file for Windows that means the operating system can run without requiring this process. This process is not visible. It runs when you load Windows. The registry key for this process is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. The hkext3.exe file can record inputs. A file with EXE extension pertains to an executable file or program in OpenVMS, DOS, Symbian, Windows and OS/2 operating systems. An executable file contains a program that can be run or executed by the operating system in the computer. Aside from the executable programs, various EXE files have components called resources like icons and bitmaps that the executable program can utilize for its GUI [graphical user interface]. E-mail attachments with an EXE file extension should come from a trusted source though to make sure that it is not a virus.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. hkext3.exe. is used by hkext3.exe, If you shut down hkext3.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop hkext3.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is hkext3.exe, from your system.
