The hgcctl95.exe file is a process called Colorific Control Panel that is part of the application Colorific [Windows] created by Sonnetech that is later known as E-Color, Inc. This process file is not a system process that means it originates from the software installed in the system. It is a safe process. It can record inputs. It is not a core file for Windows that means the operating system can run without requiring this process. Colorific is a software that comes with a printer, scanner, monitor or other imaging devices. It is a commercial and proprietary product that earned sales mostly by bundling or licensing deals. E-Color, Inc. has stopped the operations on July 15, 20012.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. hgcctl95.exe. is used by Colorific [Windows], If you shut down hgcctl95.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop hgcctl95.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Colorific [Windows], from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as Colorific [Windows], or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
