It is not a system process. A DLL or dynamic link library file has a mechanism for shared codes and data that can be used by different applications at the same time. This mechanism allows the developer to upgrade functions of the application without the need to recompile –re-link. It can be reused or organized into a module to save disk space and memory. A DLL file requires an EXE file such as RUNDLL32.EXE or RUNDLL.EXE to be loaded by the operating system through an entry point. A DLL file runs in the memory space belonging to the calling process with same access permissions.
