The process executed by gregsvc.exe is known as Global Registration Service, licensed under Acer. It is an application that reminds users of Acer computers that they need to register their PCs. The file displays an occasional pop-up that serves as a reminder that the user still needs to register their computer. Unless you have already done so, the reminder will keep popping-up. The file is not CPU-intensive, utilizing only a fraction of the CPU. It also uses just about 3.1 percent of RAM. However, it will keep running in the background until such time when registration has been completed; upon which, users generally disable or completely uninstall the file since it is not a system file, and is not needed for Windows to perform all its processes. The file was installed by the manufacturer to provide users with a registration application for their computers instead of asking users to go directly to the Acer website.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. gregsvc.exe. is used by Global Registration Service, If you shut down gregsvc.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop gregsvc.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Global Registration Service, from your system.
