The gps.exe file is an executable process that is included in the program files of the Sony Giga Pocket software, which is an application that is bundled with certain Sony VAIO desktops. The Sony Giga Pocket software allows users to implement a set of integrated features for recording television programs using their Sony VAIO desktop systems. The gps.exe process is used by the Sony Giga Pocket software as its executable dispatcher file, which means the gps.exe process calls on other associated program files and modules of the Sony Giga Pocket software when activated, in order to load the Sony Giga Pocket application unto the system. Another variant of the gps.exe process is implemented by Microsoft Windows systems as part of the Generic Host Process for Win32 Services module, which is an applet that is bundled with Microsoft Windows systems.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. gps.exe. is used by Sony Giga Pocket or Microsoft Windows Generic Host Process for Win32 Services, If you shut down gps.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop gps.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Sony Giga Pocket or Microsoft Windows Generic Host Process for Win32 Services, from your system.
