Executing the file freescan.exe enables SpyWare BeGone to scan the PC and remove malware and other infections like keyloggers, spybots, adbots, and spyware cookies. The software routinely scans all folders in the computer, removing the need for manual scanning. It employs real-time tracking to ensure that threats are blocked from the system. File scanning can be done in fast or full mode, and statistics are provide after each scan, which includes the number of scanned memory items, registry entries, and files and folders. It also checks the detected spyware files and blocks the attempts of these files to modify the Web browsers, which are most vulnerable to spyware. SpyWare BeGone is compatible with various versions of Windows and uses a moderate amount of the computer's resources.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. freescan.exe. is used by SpyWare BeGone, If you shut down freescan.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
