This application installs a Windows Service called FlashPlayerUpdateService that keeps the Adobe Flash Player installation up to date with the latest enhancements and security fixes. This service is set to run once per day if the Flash Player has been configured during installation to install updates automatically when available. Included with the installation is the Shockwave Flash 10.0 r22 that is a specific plugin for Internet Explorer, which allows Web pages to display interactive Web contents like games, business presentations, advertisements, and entertainment from the Web browser.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. flashutil10m_activex.exe. is used by Flash Player Installer/Uninstaller, If you shut down flashutil10m_activex.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop flashutil10m_activex.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Flash Player Installer/Uninstaller, from your system.
