The fireflyshell.exe file is the process called FireflyShell that is used by the application Firefly Media Server created by Roku LLC. The directory for this executable file is in C:\Program Files subfolder. The size of this file is 237,568 bytes. This program uses an icon on the taskbar usually found next to the clock. This program uses a visible window. You can access the Firefly Media Server on Windows Control Panel. The FireflyShell version 1.0 svn-1586 has an MD5 algorithm fingerprint of 724efa281744bffbabb7b157ad80b596, SHA1 of ed1f1269dba8ad525b0ef8c19367b3b21d60ceac and SHA256 of 760862a718cee5b3563883f9802fbbd34203130d6d3c0b81dbdcd9082857bb7d. Firefly Media Server is an open source software that serves as audio media server or daemon for iTunes and Roku SoundBridge. It uses DAAP [Digital Audio Access Protocol] and RSP [Roku Server Protocol] to server media files. The fireflyshell.exe file has a digital signature from Firefly Media Services with certificate issued by Comodo Time Stamping Signer.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. fireflyshell.exe. is used by Firefly Media Server, If you shut down fireflyshell.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop fireflyshell.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Firefly Media Server, from your system.
