The process file filedisk.sys (version 5.4.0.2688) is a Windows driver that is defined as a minute program that permits the communication between connected devices and the hardware with the computer. The driver also has a direct connection to the internals of the operating system, its hardware and others. The process file filedisk.sys is identified as Vertical Disk encryption driver or FileDisk Virtual Disk Driver that is part of the software filedisk (in reference to the original work by Bo Branten), Security Update for Microsoft, Protector Suite QL, Setup Bad CDDVD Recovery, or MySLAX Creator Wizard that is developed by the following: iolo Technology, LLC (in reference to the original work by Bo Branten), Bo Branten or Upek. The process file is also known as “crosscrypt” which is a created file of System Mechanic Iolo Technologies. The process file is also a DIY DataRecovery HD Workbench install on W2K PC which also goes by the product name of filedisk. The process file is located in folder C:\Windows\System32\drivers or in most cases in subfolder of C:\Program Files\Common Files in the directory of %COMMONFILES%\Protector Suite QL\Drivers. On Windows 7/XP, the process file has a file size of 12,928 bytes (38% of all occurrences), 9,341 bytes and 10 other variants. It can begin and end from Services in the control panel or by other programs. The process file has no visible window and neither is it a Windows core file, however, it is a compressed file.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. filedisk.sys. is used by FileDisk Virtual Disk Driver, If you shut down filedisk.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop filedisk.sys, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is FileDisk Virtual Disk Driver, from your system.
