Associated Program: Filter Daemon Host
Programm Category: File Server Software

What is  fdhost.exe

The fdhost.exe process is the process file for FilterDaemon Host, a Full Text search engine, has two divisions of processes – the Search process (msftesql.exe), and the Filter Daemon (msftefd.exe) – that interact with the Server. The search engine has the indexer and the full text processors. The indexer creates indexes for the full text searches, scans the database text columns, and indexes binary columns (in cases of unstructured Word document being stored, for example). The Filter Daemon uses the iFilters to extract the meaningful texts from the document and, once extracted, are broken up into words sequence, and handed back to the indexer, which will filter out noise or un-useful like the words “A”, “And”, etc. The remaining words are indexed with associated words, and gathered for sectioning by the built-in thesaurus according to word variants and accurateness, and are then monitored for the next update. The SQL Server stores these results for the next set of processes.
