The faxnt.sys file is the process called FaxNT driver that is used by SoftK56 developed by Conexant Systems. This process file is a driver. A driver is an application that enables the computer to communicate with hardware devices. The location of this file is in the C:\Windows\System32\drivers folder. Known sizes for this file are 323,352 bytes, 215,195 bytes and 212,491 bytes with 40% occurrence. You can access the driver under Services on Windows Control Panel. There is no visible window for this program. It is a non-system process. This driver for Conexant SoftK56 data fax modem works on Windows ME, 98SE and NT 4.0. This faxnt.sys application is a package that installs update for the data fax modem device driver that is pre-installed on IBM NetVista systems. It needs about 25 MB of hard disk space. The faxmonitor.exe file has a digital signature from Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher with certificate issued by VeriSign Time Stamping Service.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. faxnt.sys. is used by Conexant SoftK56, If you shut down faxnt.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop faxnt.sys, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Conexant SoftK56, from your system.
