The brmfcwnd.exe process is the executable file for the Brother scanner, a product by Brother Industries Ltd., a company that manufactures computer hardware and drivers. Brmfcwnd.exe is an essential component of the Brother scanner for its main function of photocopying images and outputting precise colors in the scanning process that can be monitored in its program interface. In addition, brmfcwnd.exe is responsible for the transfer time it takes for images to be captured in a digital format, together with the number and volume of objects being scanned. Through the many features of the brmfcwnd.exe program, the status of the connected printer can be monitored as well, whether there are errors, simple disconnection, power failure, or malfunctions taking place on the unit. When brfcwnd.exe executes, an icon places itself on the system tray beside the system clock. By default, brfcwnd.exe is disabled, so the user has to hover over the system tray to display the Quick Print Setup icon and be able to click on it to turn the Status Monitor on or off. The program normally takes up a minimal 815 KB of disk space in Windows XP computers.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. brmfcwnd.exe. is used by Brother Scanner, If you shut down brmfcwnd.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
