The bgswitch.exe file is a process that is used by the software Powertoys for Windows XP developed by Lou Amadio. The location for this file is in the C:\Windows\System32 folder. The size of this file is 19,520 bytes. The program runs when you boot Windows. The registry key for this process is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run, HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. You can access the program on Windows Control Panel. PowerToys for Windows XP is an application suite that offers tools with different functions. These include viewing images burned on CD as slide show, making Web-ready slideshow of digital pictures, Atl-Tab Replacement to display icon of the window with the application you are witching to and page preview. You can also take pictures using your Webcam at certain time intervals and save them to your chosen location. It has tools for image resizing, conversions and graph using Power Calculator, magnifying parts of the screen and opening a command window.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. bgswitch.exe. is used by PowerToys for Windows XP, If you shut down bgswitch.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop bgswitch.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is PowerToys for Windows XP, from your system.
