The executable process file, backupsvr.exe (version 2.10.0.4) goes by the product name of SmarThru Office version 2 otherwise known as the SmarThru Office (BackupSvr) that is part of the software, SmarThru Office (version v.1) as developed by the Company, Samsung Research Center, Moscow, or Samsung Electronics, Co., Ltd.. The process file has no visible window and is not considered as a Windows system file, although it is digitally signed, with a certificate issued by Symantec Time Stamping Service Signer-G3 signed by Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.. The process file is found to be located in the subfolder of C:\Program File with the directory of %PROGRAMFILES%\SMARTHRU OFFICE. Upon Windows startup, the program starts simultaneously with the Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ Current Version\ Run. The file size on Windows 7 or XP is 86,016 bytes, 60% of all occurrences, or at 184,320 bytes.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. backupsvr.exe. is used by BackUpSvr, If you shut down backupsvr.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop backupsvr.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is BackUpSvr, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as BackUpSvr, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
