Update Antivirus Application is the service name given for the process autodown.exe, which is an instance of an executable or EXE file, and a part of the software product branded or known as Update Antivirus Application, which is developed by Computer Associates International. Upon the installation of the program, the autodown.exe file is also downloaded onto the computer, stored on a file folder C:\Program Files, sometimes in C:\Windows, or C:\Documents and Settings, registered into the Windows registry, and run in the background during the Windows startup. That being said, the autodown.exe file is downloadable and runs in most versions of Microsoft Windows operating systems,including Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000, Windows NT, and Windows ME, which are produced by Microsoft Corporation for both desktop PCs and laptops, or notebooks.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. autodown.exe. is used by Update Antivirus Application, If you shut down autodown.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop autodown.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Update Antivirus Application, from your system.
