The atmsg.exe file is also known as PC MCLAN Messenger. It is authored by Miramar Systems, Inc. that is acquired by Computer Associates Inc. or CA in 2004. It is associated with Miramar PC/Mac Networking program for Windows NT. Its main function is to launch the program for PC MCLAN Messenger. This executable file supports the networking software of Miramar PC/Mac by enabling users to share printers, files and drives and send or receive instant messages by means of local area networks. The process runs automatically upon Windows Startup. The user can operate the program manually as well. It has a visible window that is accessible from the Program Files folder with its location in C:\Program Files\Miramar\PC MACLAN\ATMsg.exe. The atmsg.exe program file can also run on the background. Users can also configure the settings of PC MCLAN Messenger. The atmsg.exe process is not associated with MS Windows operating system directly. It is proven to be safe and is an important component of Miramar PC/Mac networking program. Terminating this program will impair the functions of the software and will disable the PC MCLAN Messenger totally.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. atmsg.exe. is used by Miramar PC/Mac Networking Program for Windows NT, If you shut down atmsg.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
