The apshook.dll file is a Windows process that is termed as Application Protection Hook, and a component of the application Cognizance Identity Manager by Cognizance, also Bioscrypt VeriSoft Single Sign On by Bioscrypt Inc., or ASUS Security Protect Manager, or Credential Manager for HP ProtectTools. VeriSoft Single Sign On is a type of multi-factor authentication software that is designed and used for enterprises a secure access to computer systems, with the reduction of the operating costs related to password management, which provide users the flexibility to enforce and establish policy that can authenticate employees through a single or a blend o factors, which include fingerprint biometrics, Smart Cards, passwords, virtual tokens, proximity or contactless cards, and other standard protocols. In short, this program is a protection against unauthorized access, as well as audit performance and log maintenance. Because of its essence in the program, apshook.dll is a file that must not be deleted or terminated, especially that it is digitally singed (Bioscrypt, Inc. - VeriSign Time Stamping Services Signer - G2).

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. apshook.dll. is used by Cognizance Identity Manager or Bioscrypt VeriSoft Single Sign On, If you shut down apshook.dll, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
