The file adb.exe is generally associated with two known software: HTC Sync and Android SDK Tools. For both software however, the process basically functions in the same way: to enable your HTC mobile phone or Android-enabled phone to synchronize with your PC. The file is about 2.41 MB in size, and utilizes around 1.07 MB of RAM. The executable file for the process is usually saved in the Program Files folder. Its general directory path is C:\Program Files\Eclipse\Android-SDK-Windows\Tools\adb.exe. There were a few mentions of the file crashing when users are attempting to launch it or upon startup if it is enabled to run with system booting. Usually, the file crashes or displays an error message when the PC has both the HTC Sync and the Android SDK applications installed on its system. This could also happen if the file version that you have on the computer is no longer compatible with the software installed on your mobile phone.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. adb.exe. is used by HTC Sync, If you shut down adb.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop adb.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is HTC Sync, from your system.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as HTC Sync, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
