The acwinservice.exe process is an executable file deployed by the IBM Rational software into Windows-based systems as the executable component dispatcher file of the IBM Rational Agent Controller application, which is an applet built into the IBM Rational program. The acwinservice.exe process loads the IBM Rational Agent Controller application unto the system upon its activation, in order to distribute licensed access rights and priviliges to client systems with the IBM Rational program installed. The IBM Rational software is an application and systems development project management solution with a set of features for implementing organized collaboration tasks via the application version tracker and debugging tools among other functionalities embedded in the IBM Rational program. The acwinservice.exe file is placed in the system upon the installation of the IBM Rational software.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. acwinservice.exe. is used by IBM Rational and IBM Rational Agent Controller Application, If you shut down acwinservice.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop acwinservice.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is IBM Rational and IBM Rational Agent Controller Application, from your system.
