Known as the service name NewSoft C/DVD Burning Driver, the process called achernar.sys, which is a driver (SYS) file, is a part of the software product labeled as Achernar - SCSI Command Filters, also Achernar - SCSI Command Filter Drivers, or DVD Power Burner, which is created by NewSoft Technology Corporation or An Chen Computer Co. During the installation of the program, achernar.sys, which is a digitally signed process (An Chen Computer Co., Ltd. - VeriSign Time Stamping Services Signer), is installed onto the computer, where it is stored on a file folder, usually located in C:\Program Files, or C:\Documents and Settings, or C:\Windows, and registered into the Windows registry. The achernar.sys file begins to run in the background, and execute itself to perform its function, and it is recommended to keep it there, and must not be terminated, unless it is causing problems that affect the performance of the computer system.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. achernar.sys. is used by Achernar - SCSI Command Filters or Achernar - SCSI Command Filter Drivers or DVD Power Burner, If you shut down achernar.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop achernar.sys, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Achernar - SCSI Command Filters or Achernar - SCSI Command Filter Drivers or DVD Power Burner, from your system.
