what is a .psh file?

When users create project files using the ProShow application, these files are known as PSH files or Photodex Slide Shows. All the settings, all the added effects that contribute to the loading, creation and playing of the slide show are contained in these files. PSH files are necessary for either personal photography slide shows, video publishing to the Web or business presentation materials. However, PSH files only contain the links pointing to multimedia resources and not the multimedia data itself. This is why the resources may not be found if the PSH files are moved and may call for relocation. It is possible to export PSH files to Flash, DVD, Blu-Ray and CD formats as well as it is also possible to upload these files to Youtube directly or transfer them to portable devices. The Proshow software developed by Photodex, which is available in Gold and Producer editions, is used to open PSH files.

a word of warning

Be careful not to rename the extension on .psh files, or any other files. This will not change the file type. Only special conversion software can change a file from one file type to another.

what is a file extension?

A file extension is the set of three or four characters at the end of a filename; in this case, .psh. File extensions tell you what type of file it is, and tell Windows what programs can open it. Windows often associates a default program to each file extension, so that when you double-click the file, the program launches automatically. When that program is no longer on your PC, you can sometimes get an error when you try to open the associated file.
