Learn how to use Battery Optimizer to get the most out of your laptop battery!

Double-click the Battery Optimizer icon on your desktop to open the program and follow the procedure given below:

1. Go to the home screen of the program and click on the 'Run Diagnostic' button. You should now be presented with a screen specifying the details of the scan and offering two separate scanning options, namely 'Express Scanning Mode" and "Comprehensive Scanning Mode".

"Express Scanning Mode" - The Express mode is faster, as this will test the specified devices once.

"Comprehensive Scanning Mode" - The comprehensive mode will take longer, as this will test the specified devices three times, to return accurate results.

2. Unplug your laptop from the power source, select the preferred scanning mode and click on the "Begin Diagnostic" button.

[ NOTE: Please do not use your laptop during the analysis ]

After the scanning process is complete, you will be presented with the following results:

Battery Health , Current Battery Life, Potential Battery Life With Maximum Optimizations and Potential Gain In Battery Life With Maximum Optimizations.

3. After reviewing the above information, click on the 'Optimize Battery Life' button to start the optimization process.

4. You should now be presented with a screen offering various optimizations for your portable computer. Clicking on any of the items will turn their status to on/off and then show the impact it will have on the battery life of your laptop on the right hand area of the screen.

[ An improvement in battery life will be highlighted in green and a negative impact will be highlighted in red. If there is no noticeable impact on battery life, the color will remain the same ]

Also in the list of items that can be optimized are the top 5 Memory consuming processes and top 5 CPU consuming processes. The items in these two lists will not show an indication on the impact on battery life in minutes. These lists are here because load on your computer’s Memory and CPU will have a direct impact on the power that your computer consumes. Stopping any of these processes should help increase your battery life.

[ When you try to stop a process, you will receive a warning notice asking you if you are sure you would like to stop the process ]

5. After making changes to all the items that you would like turned On or Off, you can click on the ‘Perform Optimizations’ button for all the changes to take effect.

[ NOTE: You can save your customized settings for later, by saving it as a 'Profile'. To do this, please click on the 'Save As Profile' button and save it under a suitable name. This can later be accessed from the 'Profiles' menu item ]

This completes the analysis and optimization of your portable computer's battery life. You should now be able to notice an improved backup time from the battery and use it to your advantage! :D

Other unique features of 'Battery Optimizer' : ;)

Monitoring - This section shows you a historical view of your battery’s charge level and consumption rate. The graph will show you the Battery Charge % in the background (different shades of grey for charging and discharging) and the red line shows the energy consumption of the laptop. When plugged in, this red graph shows the recharge rate of the battery rather than discharge rate.

Battery Usage Alerts - This section offers the ability to alert you about the time left on your battery’s charge and also when your battery usage increases by a designated percentage. These settings can be set up within the 'Monitoring' tab of the 'Options' area.
