Welcome to the third installment of Registry Error Insights!
We get a lot of questions about what Registry Reviver scans when you run a scan of your PC with the product and how it classifies when an error is present. Due to these questions we decided to write a series of blog posts that describe all the areas of you computer that Registry Reviver scans and why these areas are important to your computer’s health. These articles will generally be more technical in nature but we encourage you to ask any questions in the comments section if you would like anything explained.
In this post we will look at Program Shortcuts.
What are Program Shortcuts?
When you install a new piece of software a shortcut for that program is usually created, often on your desktop, so you can easily access the software. Depending on the integrity of the software manufacturer, if you choose to uninstall the software, the shortcuts for this software may still remain and point to the application that does not exist . Clicking on these shortcuts will commonly result in you seeing the message “Windows is searching for the program”?
Also, over time as you continue to install multiple software applications, you may want to organize the location of these programs. If you move the executable files, the original shortcut that was created may no longer be pointing to the correct folder to allow the software to start up.
How Registry Reviver Helps:
Registry Reviver will verify your mapped shortcuts to confirm that they are correct and current. If the shortcut item does not correctly map to the correct location as contained in the Registry, then the entry will be deleted.
Check for incorrectly mapped shortcuts and many other potential registry problems that could be affecting the performance of your PC with a FREE SCAN of Registry Reviver
